I’ve been introduced into photography by my grandfather who has worked all his life at the Agfa-Gevaert factory in Mortsel. He learned me how to develop black & white pictures in the darkroom when I was still a kid. We stitched up the windows with plastic foil & used film, chemicals & grated barite paper that was more than 40 years out of date! We didn’t have light-meters, timers or anything, but we made pics the way it was done after the 2nd world war…A few years later (age 13) I participated in a few photo-contests. I won a second prize at the ‘Muntschouwburg’ in Bruxelles & I was selected for the exhibition of the best photographs for: “Zomer van Antwerpen”…
‘Photography’ got involved again when I started organizing club-parties with some friends. Next to playing music, I was also making the pictures. My material & technique gradually improved with time & experience and I decided to do it professionally. I’ve been shooting for many clubs and private parties & my pics always took notice because of a personal twist in light & style that seemed to be liked by many.
Today I shoot a lot of business-events, receptions, congresses or outdoor activities … I did the pictures for a cook book, a graphic novel, some glossy-cover shoots,… & during my personal holidays/travels I also keep my gear close at hand. I’m happy I have quite a collection of some nice places in the world already.
I’m working more as a ‘photo-reporter’ but my interest goes both ways and I have my own studio.
